In Nis Media and Reform Center, was held a round table within the project "Quality of social protection in the local community." The topic of the roundtable was "Local priorities of social inclusion and reduction of poverty of young people without parental care who are leaving the system of social care through local social services in the city of Nis." In this session, which brought together representatives of relevant institutions and civil society organizations, participated and president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić with his associates, members of the Municipal council and the management of the Palilula Municipal Office for Youth.

"The area of social protection have to be aimed at improving the social status of citizens on personal, family and wider social plan. The work of our Municipal management, said president Boban Džunić, we advocate that theory and regulations must follow the life and provide new opportunities and not be an obstacle to the development of social protection. Using modern models and standards of social protection at the local level, as well as the introduction of new social services, we pledge to improve social security, particularly vulnerable groups of citizens, which directly improves the quality of their lives and creating equal opportunities for all, in line with values of human society.

Because we are beyond the existing practice. We initiated a cooperation and partnership with institutions and civil society organizations in the field of social protection and care of children and young people, especially vulnerable categories of the population. We have adopted a strategy-action development programs, in order to ensure the possibility of project financing from the EU funds. With this we open the possibility of the participation of all citizens and social actors in mapping social problems and defining social response.

According to the president of Palilula in Nis, material impoverishment of families, parents struggle to meet subsistence needs, leads to a weakening of the functions of family and parental skills. Neglecting young people, who are in the age of formation of attitudes, values and norms, is leading them to a growing alienation. This reality, children and young people leads to the emergence of various forms of socially unacceptable behavior - often violent, use of alcohol and psychoactive substances. Young people lose their motivation to achieve through education and there is a problem, concluded Džunić.

The project, "The quality of social protection in the local community", which was supported by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation through the Local Initiatives to increase social inclusion and poverty reduction, implemented by the Center for Civil Society PROTECTA in partnership with the Municipality of Pantelej.
